Ingunn Sommerset

Ingunn Sommerset has a PhD in viral infection in halibut from the Institute of Marine Research (2004). She then worked on the development of vaccines for salmonids and clinical trials in the vaccine company MSD Animal Health for over 14 years, after which she moved to the Veterinary Institute. First as a specialist for fish health and then two years as section manager for "Aquatic Biosecurity Research", both based in Bergen. In October 2024, she was appointed acting director of the department "Fish Health and Fish Welfare", which includes 5 specialist sections with activities on farmed and wild fish. Ingunn has been the specialist editor of the Fish Health Report for the past five years.
