
Øivind Bergh
Øivind Bergh is an experienced senior researcher at the Institute of Marine Research, with a doctorate in microbial ecology from the University of Bergen, obtained in 1996. His career at the institute has included roles as program manager and head of research groups, as well as a period as Professor II in fish health at UiB from 2006 to 2011. Bergh has led the significant EU project COEXIST, which explored the interaction between aquaculture, fisheries and the environment in Europe's coastal areas. He has participated in a number of EU-funded projects focused on marine spatial planning, coexistence between marine industries, and the effects of climate change on aquaculture. Bergh is currently involved in the "SFI Smart Ocean" project, where he works with the development and use of autonomous sensors in networks for underwater wireless communication.
