He shows how large cages are more prone to hypoxic conditions, with fish welfare challenged when dissolved oxygen falls below the critical 6 mg/L threshold. Using a new model, Wen quantifies how cage size and current speed affect oxygen levels and highlights how these insights can guide safer offshore production and planning of future sites.
