Does submerged operation result in fewer lice and fewer delousing in commercial salmon farming? At the FHF Lice Conference 2026, Frode Oppedal from the Institute of Marine Research will present analyses from 42 fish farms that have operated submerged production for one or two generations. The study includes around 422 cages and compares the lice situation in clusters of submerged facilities and nearby locations. The results provide new insight into how submerged operation affects lice infestations and the need for delousing.
