Jonatan Nilsson from the Institute of Marine Research presents results from three projects based on commercial data from delousing operations. He shows how pharmacological and non-pharmacological methods affect the welfare of both diploid and triploid salmon, as well as trout. Mechanical and thermal delousing generally give better delousing results than chemical treatment, but chemical methods may be a safer choice when the fish are weakened and the risk of delousing is high.
