安杰利科·马达罗

Angelico Madaro is a marine biologist with a BSc and MSc from the University of Ancona, Italy, specializing in animal physiology, biodiversity, aquaculture, and human impacts on marine environments. He earned his PhD at the Institute of Marine Research in Norway within the Animal Welfare Group, where he contributed to the EU-funded CopeWell project, investigating stress regulation in farmed Atlantic salmon, the allostatic concept of stability through change, and differences in stress responses across life stages, with a particular focus on brain mechanisms. Madaro brings strong analytical expertise in gene expression and endocrine methods (RNA purification, cDNA synthesis, qPCR, in situ hybridization, cortisol/ELISA), and extensive experience designing and running fish experiments at the Matre research station. Since 2016, he has worked as a postdoctoral researcher on a DSM-funded project exploring the biochemical pathways behind astaxanthin metabolism and muscle pigmentation in Atlantic salmon, including lipoprotein transport studies and pigment quantification using HPLC. He also has teaching experience at NTNU in Trondheim in stress physiology and fish health and welfare.
